Jacob's second birthday party
Posted by adam on Friday, July 31 @ 17:32

Today is Jacob's second birthday, so we had almost all the family over -- both sets of grandparents, both sets of great-grandparents, and the aunts and uncles from Andrea's side. Instead of a cake like last year, Andrea made cupcakes with various bug designs. My, how he's grown.

Tonight we celebrated Babbage's fourth anniversary. Now that Becca is doing some work for us for a few projects, we had her and Josh join us for some nigori, sushi, and various other Japanese awesomeness at Benihana in Maple Grove.

This picture was toward the end of the evening and admittedly not very good quality (it was taken on my new phone).

Tomorrow is Jacob's second birthday, and we're going to have (almost) all the family over for some cupcakes, drinks and a good time. I'm making extra trays of ice cubes in preparation.

Reed's baptism
Posted by adam on Sunday, July 12 @ 12:42

Today was Reed's baptism, and we had a brunch at our house afterward, consisting of some two packages of bacon, three of sausage, two big egg bakes, a large container of orange juice, a large bowl of fruit, dozens of pieces of toast, and a partridge in a pear tree. We had over my parents, all of Andrea's immediate family, and all four of her grandparents.

I will upload pictures from today later on when I recover from all the prep work, cleanup, and various other excitement from the day.

Not falling off the playset is a good thing

Tonight we finally got around to putting up spindles on Jacob's playset. Now that he knows how to and can climb up the slide, we thought it best that we move on this project (which only took us an hour and a half or so). The whole time, Jacob helped Grandpa Sam -- mostly grabbing a handful of wood screws.

Surprisingly, this phase of the playset was rather cheap. I bought 80 or so spindles, but we've got a few dozen let over that I'll be returning to Home Depot tomorrow. All said and done, I think this will have cost about $50.

This Sunday is Reed's baptism followed by brunch at our house. I'll be sure to upload pictures to our photo album.
